Windows 95 driver 1.070 & Windows 3.x driver 1.051 for
MS-101,103,124:
Windows 95 operation requires the ROM
upgrade for MS-124 with serial number below 5348 0000 or
MS-101 with serial number below 5307 0000.
MS-103 and older MS-101 with "MIDIATOR" printed on the
sides are not upgradeable and not compatible with Windows 95, but
Windows 3.x only:
(MSDRIVER.EXE, 82k bytes)
Self-extracting archive will let you make a new driver disk
If you have an older driver installed, you must remove it
before you install the new one: see "Removing a Driver"
below.
Installing Driver from floppy disk
1. Start "Control Panel" from the "Settings"
menu.
2. Run "Add New Hardware" (doubleclick icon).
3. At "Do you want Windows to search..., "click
"No", then "Next".
4. At Hardware types select "Sound, video, and game
controllers", then "Next".
5. On the "Manufacturer/Model" window click "Have
Disk".
6. At "Install From Disk", insert disk, select path if
not a:\, and click "OK". Do not try to install using
Browse!!!
7. At "Select Device", highlight desired driver and
click "OK".
8. At "Windows can continue..., "click
"Finish," then wait for file(s) copy.
9. At Driver Setup Window select Model, Port, IRQ, and other
settings, then click "Test" if available, else click
"OK".
10. At "System Settings Change", restart Windows to
enable driver, click Yes".
11. Remove the driver disk.
12. Windows MME applications should be able to open and use MIDI
ports after restart. If you receive a driver error message on
restart, your settings may be incorrect. See "Changing
Driver Settings" below.
Changing Driver Settings
1. Start "Control Panel" from the "Settings"
menu.
2. Run "Multimedia" (doubleclick icon).
3. At "Multimedia properties" click
"Advanced" function.
4. At "Multimedia Drivers", click "+" for
"MIDI Devices and instruments".
5. Click on appropriate device then click "Properties".
6. At"...Properties" click "Settings".
7. Use the driver dialogs to make appropriate setting changes.
8. You should restart Windows if prompted, that restart is
necessary for changes to take effect. Otherwise, skip the
following steps.
9. Shut down any applications that may have files opened.
10. Start "Shut Down", choose "Restart...",
and click "Yes".
Removing a Driver
1. Start "Control Panel" from the "Settings"
menu.
2. Run "Multimedia" (doubleclick icon).
3. At "Multimedia Properties" click
"Advanced" function.
4. At "Multimedia Drivers", click "+" for
"MIDI Devices and instruments".
5. Click on appropriate device then click "Properties".
6. At"... Properties" click "Remove".
7. At "Remove" click "Yes".
8. At "Device Removed" click "OK".
9. You should restart Windows for safe operation, click
"OK" to the restart notice.
10. Shut down any applications that may have files opened.
11. Start "Shut Down", choose "Restart...",
and click "Yes".
If you have an older driver installed, you must remove it
before you install the new one: see "Removing a Driver"
below.
Installing Driver from floppy disk
1. Start Windows.
2. Run Windows Control Panel (in Main Group).
3. Run the Drivers applet (double click on Drivers).
4. Click on "Add" button.
5. Select "Unlisted or Updated Driver.
6. Click "OK".
7. Insert the disk in A or B drive. You should have made a backup
copy of the disk!!!
8. Specify the Drive when prompted (A:\ or B:\) and select
appropriate driver from list.
9. Enter port information for your system port that is connected
to the MIDIator.
10. Change other options as desired. See the KEYMIDI.TXT file on
the disk for details. It is suggested that you start with the
defaults.
11. If MS-101, 103, or 124 click on "TEST", else skip
to line 14.
12. Connect a MIDI cable as instructed, then "OK".
13. If test passes, click on "OK", else try changing
the serial port, and test again.
14. Click "OK", if you have a problem, click on
"Cancel", then check and resolve hardware problems. You
can use Control Panel again without reinstalling the driver.
15. Restart Windows when prompted.
16. You will have to select the driver for each application as
specified by the application.
17. Run your MIDI applications(s). For MS-101/103/124 we strongly
suggest using STANDARD MODE (3.1 - WIN/S, 3.11 - WIN/D:T). For
MS-101B/124B (buffered mode version) enhanced mode is preferred.
Changing Driver Settings
1. Run Windows Control Panel (in Main Group).
2. Run the Drivers applet (double click on Drivers).
3. Highlight the driver with a single click.
4. Click on Setup. This will get you to the driver setup window
for serial drivers. The parallel driver will enter the Console
Window if no hardware or configuration problems occurred when
Windows started. If you want to change the hardware (new LPT,
IRQ, Model) then click on Hdw Config.
5. Proceed just like a new installation.
Removing a Driver
1. Run Windows Control Panel (in Main Group).
2. Run the Drivers applet (double click on Drivers).
3. Highlight the driver with a single click.
4. Click on Remove.
5. Restart Windows - the driver will otherwise still be resident.
